LANDIKOTAL: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Monday expressed grief and sorrow over the human loss caused by recent flood here and sympathized with the affected families. The governor visited the flood affected area Sra Shaga in Landikotal where the flash floods triggered by monsoon rains had swept away a bus carrying a wedding party in Khyber Agency. He distributed cheques of Rs 300,000 among each family who lost their family members. Member National Assembly Shahji Gul Afridi and Additional Chief Secretary FATA Fida Wazir were also present on this occasion. Political Agent Khyber Agency, Cap (retd) Khalid Mehmood briefed the governor about the flood situation, relief activities and rescue operation. The governor directed the authorities concerned to extend all possible assistance to the affected families.
He instructed the officials and departments concerned to remain fully alert and monitor the flood situation round the clock and further directed that special safety measures should be made to avoid flood and rains damages in future. Talking to the affectees, the governor said that he came here just to meet the victims. He maintained the government would help flood affectees in every possible way.
