LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA) faction chief Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali on Saturday ended his party’s sit-in outside Punjab Assembly after successful talks with the provincial government.
Speaking to his supporters outside Punjab Assembly, he thanked all of them for staging the sit-in and claimed that the government had agreed to not only address TLYRA’s grievances regarding the matter pertaining to an amendment in oath regarding finality of prophet-hood, but had also accepted all their demands.
He said that the government had assured his party that a committee would be formed regarding Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s resignation, his party’s core demand during the seven day long sit-in.
Jalali announced he was concluding the sit-in and that he was providing the government with a “free hand” for one month.
Speaking on Sanaullah’s resignation, he said that the “court of Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi” would decide the matter. He, however, said that they were not retracting the demand for action against the minister.
Talking about his differences with Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the head of the other faction of TYL, Jalali announced that a “Sunni Ulema Board” had been constituted on Friday and that he was going to submit his written resignation to the board. He further said that Rizvi would also be appearing before the board to express his viewpoint.
Earlier, a three-week-long dharna by Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) at Faizabad interchange of Islamabad had finally ended on November 27.
