KARACHI: Malir District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Administrator Tariq Hussain Mughal has said that heatstroke camps have been installed in Malir’s public places for a period of three months.
He said that cold drinking water, ORS, glucose and beverages had been made available at the camps.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mughal said that the staff had been warned against negligence with regard to provision of the required facilities in the camps.
The administrator, accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Manzoor Hussain Abbasi, visited several camps asking citizens about the facilities offered in the camp.
Mughal emphasised the need to carry out a public awareness campaign that aids in preventing people from getting a heatstroke.
He directed focal person Jamal Nasir to issue show cause notices to the staff that were not performing their assigned duties at the camps, adding that staff’s attendance at the camps should be ensured from 11am to 5pm.
Around five staffers from DMC and volunteers from scouts had been assigned duty at each camp while pamphlets containing information about prevention from heat strokes were also being distributed, he apprised.
The focal persons informed the administrator that the camps had been set up at Malir 15, Kala Board, Harmain Chorangi, Saudabad, Model Colony and Bakra Piri areas.
