KARACHI: Pak Sar Zameen Party (PSP) chairman Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday extended a hand of friendship towards Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan leader Dr Farooque Sattar.
In a press conference held at Pakistan House, the PSP chief said, “MQM’s brand of politics has now come to an end. It’s time for all factions to be united again and work together for the people of Karachi.” Following the lead of major opposition parties, Kamal demanded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif immediately resign from the highest executive office in the country. “Nawaz Sharif should resign instead of defending his position after the submission of Joint Investigation Team inquiry report in the Supreme Court,” he said. Kamal said Sharif should exercise his right to defend himself against the charges leveled against him after his resignation. Criticising the performance of the provincial government, he said, “This government will do nothing for Karachiites. It has failed to provide even the basic facilities to those in other cities of Sindh.” Kamal also spoke about Altaf Husain. He said there would have been no need for formation of a Mutahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan faction had it not been for Hussain’s wrong decisions and insane speeches. “PSP is expanding fast all over the country. The day is not far away when we will become a majority-party,” he said. Therefore, he added, I urge Farooque Sattar to agree to work together for the cause of the people. Earlier, MQM-haqiqi faction chief Afaq Ahmad had announced his support for MQM-P’s candidate Kamran Tessori in the recently held PS-114 by-election. The seat was won by Pakistan People’s Party’s Saeed Ghani.
