GUJRANWALA: Eyeing the rise in population of Gujranwala, a new executive passport office has been set up by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in the city.
The office aims to address issues such as the public facing long queues. The office was inaugurated by Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan in a ceremony where NADRA Chairman Usman Yousuf Mubeen, Lahore Region DG and other officials were present.
According to NADRA, executive passport office Gujranwala was the first step in solving problems for easy and rapid access to computerized passports. Through this office, applicants would be able to get their passports through one window; where they’d get their fingerprints scanned, data entered and photo captured at the same counter. All facilities would be available in an air-conditioned hall. NADRA said after providing the public with computerized national identity cards at their doorsteps, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) now aims for computerized machine-readable passports for the citizens.
